Update on EarthEnjoyer

This will be the last post for a while.

I want to take a moment to reflect on the journey so far and clarify what EarthEnjoyer was initially meant to be, where it stands now, and what might lie ahead in the future.

The beginning of EarthEnjoyer

EarthEnjoyer began as part of my bachelor’s degree in Digital Communications and Marketing. The project was to create a website, and write a paper focusing on strategic planning, marketing tactics, analytics, and theoretical frameworks of digital communication. It required me to conduct academic research, plan every marketing move, analyze user behavior, and justify each decision I made. Unfortunately, the academic framework didn’t include evaluating the creativity or essence of what was created, just the strategic process behind it.

From the start, I envisioned EarthEnjoyer as something much more than a school assignment. I dreamed of building a meaningful platform that could spark a movement to make the world a more enjoyable place. It was meant to be a hub of creativity, motivation, and meaningful engagement.

The assignment made me feel constricted, as if the academic structure was holding me back from creating the kind of content I really wanted to produce. Balancing this with the school’s demands to measure success and engagement made me feel like I was stuck in a loop of academic scrutiny. This project often even felt at odds with my personal values, and I’ve shared some of my philosophy on the Privacy, Cookies, and Tracking page. I don’t enjoy having to track, measure, and argue for every choice I make, but for this assignment, I had to provide extensive justification for almost every aspect.

What has been accomplished

If I’m honest, EarthEnjoyer hasn’t really become what I originally wanted it to be, yet. While I can partly blame the school assignment’s constraints, I am mostly to blame, myself. Because my creativity felt stifled, I often defaulted to what seemed easiest. On my trip to Nepal, for example, I had hoped to produce exciting, inspiring content. Instead, I ended up creating straightforward guides. Useful perhaps, but lacking the depth, passion, and originality I wanted to bring. They might fit the academic guidelines for marketability and citation, but they weren’t born of genuine inspiration.

In the end, despite my marketing efforts, EarthEnjoyer never reached a broad audience or built the community I had hoped for. The content felt constrained, and I think readers could sense that. The site’s growth has been modest, and while I am grateful for every single visitor, I know that EarthEnjoyer can and should offer more.

Looking forward

I’m not satisfied with where EarthEnjoyer is right now, but I believe I can change that. Once I complete the written assignment for my project, I’ll have the freedom to reshape EarthEnjoyer without academic strings attached. I want to focus on exploring subjects that genuinely fascinate me, and delving into more philosophical themes, also creating video content for YouTube. This will be my last post for a while, as I finish the final requirements for my bachelor’s degree.

See you soon!

I know only a handful of people have been following along, and some people have even found my guides useful. So to those of you who took the time to read, engage, and support this project in any small way, thank you. When I return, I promise to bring new energy, clearer purpose, and more inspired content to EarthEnjoyer. I’ll hold myself accountable, and I hope that when I come back, you’ll be there to see what it becomes.

Until next time, l’ll leave you with this:

Our ability to enjoy the earth depends completely upon ourselves.
